|
I am using PageGate 5 and need to set up SNPP for Verizon phones.
We have had the application for about two years, and had it working with AT&T using SMTP, but never used it and since the City has switched to Verizon for cellular service. I understand that Verizon stopped SMTP back in August of 2009, but am at a loss on setting up the SNPP.
Thanks!

Verizon's SNPP host is for their pagers, not their cel phones. Their SNPP host can't message any cel phone. |

I gathered that was what was up. Since they shut down the SMTP server, what are the options for generating the text message to the cellphones?
Obviously, I can email 10digitnumber@vtext.com and it goes through, but it rejects if we try to send it SMTP from PageGate.

Hmm.... well, we should be able to determine why the SMTP messages through PageGate aren't being accepted. If you would, switch the protocol over to SMTP and use 10digit#@vtext.com in your recipient settings. Then try and send a message out and email the c:\pagegatedata\logs\pgdial1.log file to support at notepage dot com |

Just to wrap up:
We ended up using an internal SMTP server (Exchage) to get to Verizon just fine. We had one problem, which was McAfee Coporate has settings to block mass mailing from the workstation PageGate was on. This effectively blocked outbound port 25 traffic from the workstation. Once we changed that, everything started working fine!
Thanks for the help.
