The TAP inbound interface is only available in PageGate. It allows PageGate to act as a paging terminal, and accept incoming messages via modem, using the TAP protocol. Once PageGate receives the message, it can be sent out to a recipient or group, via any of the protocols that PageGate supports.
This interface is typically used for a gateway to accept inbound TAP message, and then to deliver them over the Internet via SMTP, SNPP, or WCTP.
It is also sometimes used to accept a message addressed to a single pager, and then send the message back out to a group of pagers.
