From an earlier thread:
"It's entirely possible that port 25 may not be open on your network or from your internet service provider. If that's the case, you can't use the "Deliver directly" option in the SMTP setup in NotePager Pro, you have to use the "Deliver through" option and find out what your ISP's relay server is (or your internal relay server if you're on a large LAN).
However, a quick way to see if port 25 is open or closed is to do this:
1) Go to Start - Run
2) Type the following and hit enter: command
3) When the command prompt comes up, type the following and hit enter:
telnet smtpsp.vtext.com 25
If it comes back with a "220" response, that means port 25 is open and the problem may lay elsewhere. If it comes back and says "A connection to the server could not be established on port 25", that means that port 25 is closed and that you use a relay server.."_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

If you would, please email the c:\program files\notepager pro\npp.log file to support at notepage dot com so I can have a look at the specific command and response sequence that's happening when the program tries to deliver a message. |

Wait... when you try to send a message, do you see anything at all happening in the connection monitor? |

Right, the connection attempts in the Connection Wizard aren't always accurate. That's why you'll want to create an SMTP based carrier and recipient and try to send a message outbound. Once you try to send a message, do this:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to View - Dialer Log.
3) Left click on the Clipboard button.
4) Leave the program running but switch into your email program.
5) Create a new message to support at notepage dot com
6) In the subject line, put: Forum Log
7) Put your cursor in the body of the message, as if you were going to type, and hit Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the log in to the email.
Please send that to me. |

Sounds like a simple thing, but, the background of your screenshots clearly states "Engine Not Running" - what operating system are you using?_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Hmm... that's odd. Usually, the Engine Not Running error only happens if an overzealous antivirus deletes the nppdial.exe or if something on the system is preventing the nppdial.exe from running.
Give this a try:
1) Using the Windows explorer, browse to the c:\program files\notepager pro\ directory.
2) In that directory, you should see a NPP.mdb file. If you have system set NOT to show you the extentions to file types, you'll see a file that is named NPP and the icon of the file will be a small, yellow key.
2a) If you want to view the extentions to files, which I highly recommend, you'll want to go to Tools -> Folder Options.
2b) In the Folder Options, go under the View Tab.
2c) UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types" and click on OK.
3) Make a copy of this file somewhere on your computer, preferrably to your My Documents folder or the root c:\
4) After you've made a copy of the database, uninstall NotePager Pro.
5) During the installation, it will prompt you if you want to remove all files, tell it yes.
6) Reboot the computer.
7) Once the computer comes back up, you'll want to visit our website: http://www.notepage.net
8) Click on the Download button under the NotePager Pro section.
9) After the file has been downloaded, run it.
10) On step 3 of the installation, change the installation directory from c:\program files\notepager pro\ to c:\notepager pro\
11) After the installation finishes, find the copy of the NPP.mdb file that you made and copy this file directly into the c:\notepager pro\ directory. It will ask you if you want to overwrite the file, say yes. |
