When we send a message using the PageGate Client, we are unable to get carriage returns to show up in the message body. The text all runs together which makes the message hard to read. What can the user type in the PageGate Client to force a carriage return? Can we use the Preset buttons for that character/sting?

Examples Follow:

What we get:
From: USER1 [mailto:USER@ACME.com]
Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 10:13 AM
To: Recipient1
Subject: SpecialAlert

USER1: NON-CRITICAL OUTAGE ALL CLEAR: USER1: SUMMARY: Users are unable to access EGain, site returning HTTP 500 errors. CUSTOMER IMPACT: Direct Bill was delayed in processing. CURRENT STATUS: RESOLVED. Recycled the Egain server. COMMUNICATION: Communicated to the SAM via PageGate. INCIDENT: 235030 START TIME: 4/19/2010 3:10 pm RESOLVED TIME: 4/19/2010 3:30 pm

Carriage returns generally don't translate well in the SMTP to SMS gateways, so the program strips them out if they show up in the body of the message. This is to insure that the messages are translated properly by the host into the SMS to the phone.

Thanks for the response. None of these messages are being sent to SMS capable devices, they are all being send to an exchange server that forwards them to email enabled devices. In fact we don't use SMS at all. Given this method of using the tool, is there any way we can control the behavior?

In the recipient settings, try unchecking the "Drop non-printable characters" option and thens ee if the carriage returns remain in the message.
