|
|
I have a Wavecom Fastrack Go serial modem, to use with notepager Pro and SolarWinds Orion to send SMS alerts.
I have installed the Standard 56000bps modem in windows on com 2 as per the wavecom documentation and sucessfully tested sms delivery with Hyperterminal.
However I cannot get the wizard to see the modem on com1 and if manually set I get a constant
"2009/08/21 02:16:56 PM Start connection to carrier: VodacomSP
2009/08/21 02:16:56 PM Connect using GSMAT protocol
2009/08/21 02:16:56 PM Setting communication parameters
2009/08/21 02:16:57 PM Attempting to reset modem
2009/08/21 02:17:01 PM Sent:AT<CR>
2009/08/21 02:17:04 PM Attempting to reset modem
2009/08/21 02:17:08 PM Sent:AT<CR>
Please advise if possible
many Thanx

I'm not familiar with Wavecom Fastrack modems. I assume that they're cellular modems as opposed to regular dial-up modems? |

Can you generate a text message through hyperterminal and the AT commands over that modem?_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I can do that via Hyperterminal i.e.
AT+CMGS="xxxxxxxxx"
SMS Test from modem
<Ctrl+z>
where "xxxxxxxx" is the cellular no.
with success

Do you have your NPP pointing at the MODEM or at the COM PORT? Usually the symptoms you describe can be attributed to the USB/COM driver - you should have success by telling NPP to use the COM port at 115,200_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I too am having this problem.
The modem test from hyperterminal works fine.
The com port is set to 115200
The previous software used it fine.
I've uninstalled and deleted the drivers, unplugged the modem and done a fresh install.
Hyperterminal once again works and sends an SMS out without a hitch.
I'm at a loss and I'm totally trapped into using this software due to limitations of Network Performance Monitor by Solarwinds.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Did you change the baud rate in the CARRIER to 115200?_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Yes, it is set to 115200. I am making the assumption of GSMAT at the moment (I seem to remember that's what I used before) but regardless if I try other settings the modem connection still fails.
I am using Server 08 32bit. When I called sales they said that should not be a problem but they do not support 64bit at all.
I tried another app, Indigo something or other I found online. It too can talk to the modem no problem.
Is there some .dll I need to register? Or registry setting? I can't figure out why it won't see the modem.

Hyperterminal will talk to the modem both through the com port and by choosing the modem directly. Is there anyway to choose the modem rather than the com port in notepage?

No, NotePager Pro and PageGate both connect to the COM ports, which should be tied to a modem in Windows. |

That's how I'm trying to run it, Com3 is tied to the modem and works in hyperterminal and indigo. The notepage software can't find the modem or use it if I manually assign it on com3.
I have no other choice but to use this software. Please advise how I can get it working.
Thanks,
/RB

How to use router when modem only has 1 ethernet port? I am setting up my wireless tonight for my laptop. The router I am getting hooks up to the modem via an ethernet cord. The problem is that my modem only has 1 ethernet port which I have my desktop wired to it. The modem also has a USB port, so can I buy a USB to ethernet adapter and it will work?

Well, that's not exactly the type of modem that you can use with NotePagerPro. a Cable/DSL modem provides you (or a router) with a connection to the internet and doesn't dial anything, not like an old-fashioned dial-up modem does anyways. So, to use a cable/dsl modem with Notepager Pro, you just use the three online protocols: SNPP, WCTP, and SMTP. |
