My PageGate server is on a machine behind a firewall and uses a relay mail server. When I attempt to set the local domain name to the domain the text is to originate from, PageGate rejects the message sent via GetMail with error 530. How do I enable mail relay within PageGate (not just having PageGate use a relay mail server)?

If I understand correctly, you want PageGate to accept messages incoming on a different domain than you want it to deliver the messages outbound? |

Yes. The problem I have encountered is that T-Mobile apparently rejects any STMP messages that don't have a valid domain. At least that is what I have been able to deduce. Currently when PageGate sends the message it sends the message from "<user_name>.<IP address>". Sprint, AT&T don't block these messages but T-Mobile does.

Ah, now I see. You can do what you want to do by using the DomainAliases file. This allows PageGate to recognize multiple domains on the input side of things. That way, in the actual settings of GetMail, you can specify the Local Domain you want and the program will also accept messages for the IP.
To do this, all you ahve to do is create a text file called DomainAliases in the PageGate program directory. Note that the file has no extention. It should be just DomainAliases - no .txt, no .doc, no extention at all.
In that file, the very first line should be the IP that PG should accept messages for.
After you save the file, reboot the system and it will pick up on the new changes. |

So this requires a system reboot? Not just a PageGate restart?

Ah... my bad. No, sorry, it doesn't require a system reboot but you do need to make sure that all of the PageGate Services (especially the PGMailServer service) stop and then start. |

Thank you. Much easier to do a restart on all of the services!

Still no joy. I have created the DomainAliases file in both the program directory and the database directory to no effect. I have added the IP address and the domain name to no effect. I verified that all services were stopped and restarted. Any suggestions?

Do you have Windows set to show you the file extentions for known file types? If you don't, then Windows may be hiding the extention of the DomainAliases file. The file itself needs to have no extention at all. If it has one, edit it off. |

No extension is shown for that file, but extensions are shown for all other files in the directories. Does any keyword need to preceed the address?

No, each domain should appear on its own line in the file.
Example:
whatever.com
example.org
etc.gov |

What I have in the file is:
172.10.6.253
Do I need to enable anything in the registry?

No, there arne't any registry entries associated with it. This is quite strange... can you email your contact information to support at notepage dot com? |

As an update, for PageGate version 5, the DomainAliases file must exist in the database folder, not the program folder. |
