Were seeing delays sending to Verizon cellular via smtp. Verizon suggested we change our smtp setting from 8 bit mime to 7 bit ASCII. I cannot find anywhere to do that.

We're running Pagegate v 5.0

Currently, there isn't a way to change the SMTP delivery type. I'll mention it to the dev team for review in the future.

The issue we are having is the size of the file being reported. Verizon states once the connection to them is made, their system tries to process a large file from 4 to 10 mb. However we are sending a simple text file with no attachements. Can you advise on what may be causing the file size issue? Example below:

8/25/2009 12:39:34 AM Trying host: smtp-bb.vtext.com
8/25/2009 12:39:34 AM Connected to: smtp-bb.vtext.com
8/25/2009 12:39:55 AM Received:220 **************************^^
8/25/2009 12:39:55 AM Sent:Ehlo ccems.com^^
8/25/2009 12:39:55 AM Received:250-njbrspamp4.vtext.com^^
8/25/2009 12:39:56 AM Received:250-8BITMIME^^
8/25/2009 12:39:56 AM Received:250-SIZE 4194304^^
8/25/2009 12:39:56 AM Received:250 XXXXXXXA^^

That's... odd. Not the log file, the large file issue. Pagegate is sending a single block/packet of data... I don't know where the large file is coming from? Does your network have an SMTP monitoring rule that says that every time an SMTP message (or any traffic) over port 25, that a certain disclaimer has to be attached?

The reason I ask is that the 'extra' data isn't coming from PageGate. I don't know where it's coming from.

We run a disclaimer add on with our Exchange server but this is on a different box. The odd thing is the messages are all the same size for each vendor.

What you may want to do is run a port 'sniffer' or a port monitor on the computer with PageGate on it. That way you can find out the specific size of the packets directly from PageGate, before they actually leave your network. That way we can find out if the huge file size/packet size is coming from PageGate or if it's being attached to the packets after Pagegate tries to send them.
