I have been troubleshooting this for the last day or so but I have had no luck. I am trying to use TAP to send a message to a Verizon Blackberry. Does anyone see anything that sticks out in this log as being an issue? I have tried different baud rates and init strings. I have tried other Verizon phone numbers as well.

This may sound trivial but take the ,0 off of the end of your init string. There are some modems that just won't properly connect to a TAP terminal if it's there.

It still sends the string but it has the same result.

Hmm... try setting the baud rate to 300 and switch the init string to auto. Chances are, it'll fail, but I want to see what init string it picks out for the 300 baud connection.

Okay, we're definitely running into a communication mismatch issue, otherwise you wouldn't be getting the 'garbage' characters close to the end of the log. Try to take the ,0 off of the init string and let's see what happens.

Here it is with the ,0 removed and still at 300 baud.

The second time I tried with these settings it tried to go to tap.cssvtext.com (69.78.128.199, 1500) but had the same issue.

and this is why modems can be a little difficult to deal with. It's part tech knowledge and part voodoo.

Just out of curiosity, are you using even parity, 7 data bits, and 1 stop bit?

Right. Don't change the init string to (auto), leave it as is, and set the baud rate to 9600.

If you would, email your contact information to support at notepage dot com

Sometimes it's easier to go over modem voodoo by phone than by forum.
