|
|
I am trying to configure Pagegate with Nextel TAP.
I originally used the 1800 numbers listed and that worked for a couple of days and then it stop functioning, after contacting Nextel I was informed that the 1800 number are being disabled.
I then tried a long distance Nextel TAP number 1,2063966683 and this works.
I then tried a local 6123696683 TAP number but this will not work, I tried using commas before and after the number to adjust for any possible delays but this does not appear to work. Right now I have it working using the 206 long distance number but I do really need to get this working on the local 612 number.
Does anyone have any ideas or any suggestions.

Well, the 6123696683 seems to be an active line but I'm not sure why you couldn't connect. More often than not, it usually has to do with either the baud rate, data bits, parity, or stop bits that you've configured. What settings are you currently using?

I am using the 2400 baud, 7 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit. These are the same settings I am using the for 12023966683 and the 1800 number which does work.
I did speak with the Nextel folks and they thought that there could be a delay issue since the local 612 number has a 3 second delay since this number is routed to TAP modem pools in Chicago. To account for this I tried putting commas after the phone number, but still does not seem to work.

Actually, try 1200, even parity, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit. That's usually what the local terminals are set to.

While TAP works, you should try SNPP - it is FAR more efficient and does not tie up a phone line like TAP._________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Tried the 1200 baud, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, even parity settings, still does not seem to make any difference.
The 1-202-xxx-xxxx will work with this setting, but the 612-369-6683 still will not get through.

THis may sound elementary, but is 6123696683 a local call for the phone line connected to your modem? If so, try it WITHOUT the area code_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

The local are code is actually 651. Tried combinations of 612, 1612, "1,612", does not work. I have another call into Nextel, there is got to be something different with the local 612 numbers.
Does anyone have a procedure where you can manually type in TAP information via an outside program like hyperterminal, this would be helpful I think.

You mentioned hyperterminal - you can use that to manually interface with a terminal via the AT command set (Basically, use hyperterminal to dial the TAP number and communicate as per the protocol)_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Finally was able to get this to work with the following modem string from Nextel
AT&FQ0V1X4%C0S7=100\N1
The wait for carrier time was increase to account for phone routing to Chicago.
