Performance issue.

Hi I'm posting on behalf of a new client whom has PageGate installed and heavily integreated into a custom line of business application that utilizes a SQL backend and an Access frontend interface.

we are experiencing a heavy performance hit when utilizing the integrated features and it's likely due to having to re-establish a connection to pagegate everytime the user wants to generate messages. The developer is cautious about sustainign the link over extended periods of tiem because the monitor shows clean up and maintenance occuring every couple minutes.

Is it safe to maintain a database connection from an integrated application for long periods of time? Is there a possibility of obtaining a SQL version of PageGate for more robust integration? Is it possible to convert the existing product to mount inside SQL?

Actually, if the PGSched is running the cleanup every few minutes, that means it's running across database errors and is being reset. The ONLY time the cleanup routine runs is either at midnight during the midnight cleanup routine OR after the program has been reset either through a reboot in Windows or a database error.

I'd go over the SQL integration and make sure that all of the relevant fields are being filled out properly because it really sounds like you're running into a database error.

Fix any database errors and you shouldn't have to re-establish the connection every time a message is written to the messages table because the program won't be going offline and back online when a message is written.
