Hello Everyone;

I have a Zetron Model 16 paging encoder that we use at a local Ski Club.

I am able to use the paging system using the HyperTerminal, but am having a hard time getting users to understand the series of keystrokes required to send a single message.

I have downloaded the PageGate software, and configured it using the information I have found here in the forums.

It seems that the Zetron unit is in Manual Entry mode, and thus, when I attempt to send out a page, I get the "Received:?D??<LF>" message. This is why I am assuming / concluding that the Zetron is expecting manual entry at this point.

Is there anyone that might be able to shed some light on the problem?

Greatly appreciated.

Make sure the init string in Pagegate is set to DIRECT

Thanks for response. Init string already set to DIRECT.

Would there be a custom init string that will set the Zetron unit into Auto mode, versus manual entry mode? (IF this is indeed the actual problem)

Actually, this ("Received:?D??<LF>") indicates a communication mismatch. Verify the baud rate, data bits, parity, and stop bits with the Zetron terminal and make sure that PageGate's settings match. If the terminal is expecting no parity and we're using even parity, the two won't be able to understand each other, which is what usually causes "Received:?D??<LF>"
