Hi all,
I think I finally have all the info for BELL SMPP and SNPP connection.
If you want to send text message to pages, you need to use the protocol SNPP. The server host is pmcl.net and the port is 444.
I asked BELL and we cannot use SNPP to send text message to cell phones. I also tested it and it doesn't work (if someone is able to, please say so!).
BELL doesn't offer any connection info of anything to use SMPP or WCTP. They also confirmed to me that WCTP cannot be used with them.
However, you can still send text messages to cell phones (SMS) using SMPP connection. You need to use an aggregator (aggregator = An organization providing neutral, non-competitive direct connectivity to Mobile Operators). So you will have a contract with a company and you will connect with SMPP to their gateway and they will then connect to BELL to send the text message to cell phones (SMS). Here is a list of recommended aggregator from BELL:
It seems like that it can cost you about 1000$ to buy an account with them and about 250$ monthly for support and the actual service. This price is for a very low use of their service. But you need to call them and say what will be the load etc. and they will offer you a price.
Once this is done, they will give you the host/port/account/password and all what you need for SMPP connection.
Be careful also that BELL charge 0.15$ for each text message received on a cell phone if you don't have a special plan.
I still don't know for Rodgers canada and Telus canada, but it seems like the aggregator can do the same thing for rodgers and telus, as they do for BELL.
The other solution to send SMS to BELL cell phones is to send an email to 10digitnumber@txt.bell.ca (ex: 5147774444@txt.bell.ca and write a subject + body text tin your email). This works very well but it is NOT reliable and NOT secure. Some tests took 40 minutes to reach my cell phones and some took 5 seconds.
You can also use their website to send SMS: http://txt.bell.ca
I hope this help, I searched a lot for this information on the Internet and never found anything.

Alternatively - you can connect a cellular modem to your NPP or PageGate and use the GSM-AT protocol to send SMS to cell phones on ALL networks_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

While SNPP, WCTP and TAP are more reliable, SMTP works fine in most environments. Bell Canada's SMTP, TAP, and other carrier protocols are at http://www.notepage.net/support.htm
As OzCom mentioned, with NotePage software, messages can be sent using a cellular modem and the GSM-AT protocol to cell phones on Canadian networks (i.e. Bell, Rogers, Telus, etc.) and other countries.
We only charge for NotePage software. There are no charges to the sender for sending messages with NotePage software.
Download a free trial of NotePage software at http://www.notepage.net/software.htm

I am pretty sure my company won't want a cellular modem... but I am still interested to study this method.
Do you guys can provide me any information, website, company where I could buy a good cellular modem? I don't understand how this work exactly.
Or we buy this at our local store (Best Buy)?
Also my server is Virtual, not physic. I suppose this may be a problem... but I am not a "server pro".
Thank you
