I have PageGate v4.0 with most all the interfaces. I can't seem to get snpp to work on a Windows XP PC. I'm able to send SMTP messages fine, but when I test snpp connection ex. telntet snpp.nextel.com 444, I don't get a responce. Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to install and\or configure snpp somewhere?

Are you on a network that is behind a firewall or are you running a firewall product on that machine?
Generally, if you manually telnet to an SNPP server and can't connect, it is a firewall issue.
Also, it may be possible that your ISP blocks port 444 (which would be uncommon, usually they will block SMTP port 25 if anything)
There should be no special settings for the Operating System. |

Yes, the firewall seems to have been the problem. I am using a private ip segment and It seems to have the firewall blocking snpp traffic. I have tested snpp with our server on a public ip addresses and an snpp connection works. The IT dept. will be modifying the firewall to allow for snpp traffic. Thanks for your quick responce.
