Settings

Enabled - check this box to enable the GetMail interface. If the WebGate server is already running before checking this box, you will need to manually start this interface by right-clicking on the 'GetMail' and choosing 'Start' from the popup menu. The next time the WebGate server is started, this interface will startup automatically.

Domain Name - This is the domain name to be used by WebGate when sending and receiving email. Only email with and address in this domain will be accepted by WebGate. When sending email, this is the domain that WebGate will use when talking to other mail servers. This setting must be a valid domain name for to work properly (Note: an IP address can be used here instead of a domain name, if email is addressed to match. This is commonly done during testing when a domain name has not yet been assigned to this machine).

Postmaster - the Postmaster setting is an email address to where all warnings, alerts, bad messages, and undeliverable messages are sent. It is very useful to set this field to an email address that can be collected by WebGate's administrator. The email address set here can either be a mailbox maintained by WebGate, or a mailbox on another mail server. Leaving this field blank will drop all messages that would normally go to the postmaster.

Email Outcome - when this box is checked, an email message will be sent back to the message's sender, with the outcome of the delivery attempt to its carrier.

Relay All Mail - check this box to send all of WebGate's outbound email to a single mail server (typically your ISP's mail server). This mail server (relay server) will then deliver WebGate's mail to its final destination. This option is commonly used with slow internet connections.

Relay Server - this is the server to spool all of WebGate's outbound email to if the 'Relay All Mail' option is checked. Otherwise, this server will be used only if WebGate is unable to deliver mail directly to its destination.

DNS Server 1 & 2 - If you are not using a relay server, then WebGate must deliver email directly to its destination. WebGate uses these DNS servers to lookup the mail server that hosts the mailboxes that outbound email is addressed to.

POP Interval - If WebGate is setup to use 'Domain POP Mail Collection' or if any of WebGate's recipients are setup to collect mail from remote POP mailboxes, this is the interval at which collection takes place.

Dial-Up Networking Settings - this button will bring you to a screen to setup WebGate to use Dial-Up Networking to connect to the internet if needed.

Ad-Hoc Mail Settings - if WebGate should accept email addressed to the ID/PIN number of the recipient (i.e. 1347652@mypagers.com), use the button to access this feature's setup screen.

Domain POP Mail Settings - WebGate can be setup to collect all the mail for an entire domain from a single POP mailbox. Use this button to access the setup screen for this feature.
