Integration with MultiTech Cellular Modems

PageGate has built-in support for cellular modems, allowing it to send and receive SMS using the same method a cell phone uses — without relying on an internet connection.

After installing the MultiTech modem in Windows, it will be assigned a COM port. Note that COM port before proceeding.

Configure PageGate to Use the MultiTech Modem

  1. Open PageGate Admin. Go to Connectors — Connector X — Settings.
Any connector can be configured to use a cellular modem. If you run multiple connectors, you can tie the modem to any of them.
  2. Set the Serial Port field to match the COM port of the modem. Click Apply.
  3. Right click Carriers, left click Add. Specify the following:
Name: SMS (or any name you prefer)
    Protocol: GSM-AT
    Baud Rate: 115200
    Parity: None
    Data Bits: 8
    Stop Bits: 1
    Init String: AT+CSQ
  4. Click Apply. Add recipients tied to the SMS carrier. Since a cellular modem delivers SMS the same way a cell phone does, replies from recipients will return to the modem.

Configure Two-Way Messaging (Optional)

  1. Open PageGate Admin. Go to Connectors — Connector X — 2-Way.
  2. Check Enable GSM-AT Replies.
  3. Select a recipient or group from the drop-down list. Click Apply.

From that point, any replies to the cellular modem will be delivered to the specified recipient or group.
