Why is HIPAA Important ?
Why is HIPAA Important?
HIPAA is important because it ensures healthcare providers, health plans, healthcare clearinghouses, and business associates of HIPAA-covered entities must implement multiple safeguards to protect sensitive personal and health information. HIPAA helps protect sensitive and private inforamtion about individuals. While no hospital or health care employees want to expose sensitive information regarding an individual or their health, without HIPAA there are no legal requirements for healthcare for healthcare organizations or their employees to safeguard personal data. The HIPAA law establishes rules that require healthcare organizations to control who has access to health data, and restricts who can view any health information and who that information can be shared with.
