Problems with GetTap

I cannot get our PageGate GetTap interface to work. I am trying to get one paging server to send messages to PageGate through GetTap, but all the GetTap interface displays is:

I've made sure that the baud rate and parity are correct on both serial ports. Obviously the cables are okay, otherwise PageGate wouldn't see the connection attempt. Is there something else I can look at?

Here's what you'll want to do to fix this problem.

1) In the PageGate Admin, click on the plus sign next to Carriers.

2) Click on the plus sign next to the Carrier that you've set up.

3) Click on Settings.

4) Here in the settings, you want to remove what's in the init string. You should be able to click in the box and hit the backspace key.

5) Type the following word in exactly as you see it here: direct

6) Apply and Save your changes.

By replacing the init string with an all lower case 'direct', it basically signals the GetTap interface that it's a direct cable connection. Basically, it bypasses the init string and just starts the protocol.
