We have recently switched to Cingular as our cell provider. I seem to be unable to send pages using the get web interface, and SMTP. I noticed a few posts about problems with Cingular. I don't seem to be having a problem with the messages getting out of Pagegate, I am getting messages saying the pages were sent successfully. Does Cingular employ some kind of blocking that doesn't allow paging software to work?

Can you successfully send messages to a Cingular phone with a regular email account (using 10digitphonenumber@mobile.mycingular.com or 10digitphonenumber@cingularme.com for the recipient email address)?
If so, can you post a snippet of your Dialer Log (PGDial1.log)? Remove any recipient phone numbers from the post.
If not, check with Cingular to see if you have a text messaging enabled for those numbers. Our understanding is that text messaging is no longer enabled automatically on accounts.

I can't send a message from email either, so I guess we don't have text messaging enabled. It was nice of Cingular to tell us we did though. Thanks for the help.

To send to a Cingular phone, you need to send to the 10 digit phone number @ mmode.com_________________ Mike Linthicum

Mike,
I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but, the mmode.com only works for those Cingular customers that were originally AT&T customers. There are at least 5 different domains that Cingular uses and it seems to be whatever domain the customer service rep picks when the customer asks for the phone's e-mail address to be activated is the one that works. My clients and I have been tearing what little hair I have left out over this very issue for about the last month.

Also, some Cingular SMTP servers are now comparing all SMTP originating IP addresses against a list maintained by njabl.org (http://njabl.org/).
If your IP address appears on that list, Cingular will reject the messages.
Cingular neglects to mention this to anyone that calls for support.

Thanks Aaron, I was not aware of that issue. All of the people we send to must be former AT&T customers, because I've not had any rejects, as of yet._________________ Mike Linthicum
