Hello,

I have the need to send all pages out two serial ports simultaneously. I understand that there may be external black boxes that can handle this but am wondering if the software can handle this. I would like the PageGate server to send out the page for every page out port 1 AND out port 2 at the same time.

Thanks!

PageGate can run up to 16 simultaneous "dialers" (concurrent connections to the world)

I understand that it has up to 16 dialers. What I am asking is if I have one subscriber, can I set up PageGate so that everytime that one subscriber is paged, it will send it out more than one dialer?

While I'm not sure why you would want to do that - one way it can be accomplished is by programming 2 recipients with the same device details. Then create a group that contains both recipients. When you send a message to the group, PageGate will treat it as 2 "jobs" and send it across different dialers (as long as the dialer threshold is set to 1). If I misunderstand your application, please accept my apologies and feel free to contact me directly for further info.

Thanks!

Aaron, thanks for the suggestion.

That is one way to do it. The other is to create multiple "Carriers" with duplicate settings. Each duplicate "Recipient" would use a unique "Carrier".

Dedicate each dialer to a "Carrier". Then a dialer will only be able to send messages for that Carrier.

If there are any issues with delivery, you know which dialer is handling the messages.

So, if you use two dialers, you will create:

Two Carriers (with duplicate settings),
Two Recipients (one per Carrier, with duplicate ID/Pins),
One Group (containing each Recipient).

Thanks for the solutions. Just to let you know... I needed it to send out the page out two serial ports simultaneously because of the way we have out private paging system setup. We have two Zetron paging terminals (2200) that are setup to back each other up for redundancy. Both terminals think they are the "active" terminal all the time. I wanted to setup the client software (in this case using PageGate as a backup) to send the page to both Zetron terminals all the time without any end user intervention. If I do it like Tech Support has suggested, then the end user will have to pick the second recipient after the first page has failed. That will not work for our environment. The equipment will switch automatically after a failure. I don't want the end user having to think about that. Thanks.

If you send the message to a Group, and there are two "recipients" in that group, a message for each "recipient" will go out.

If each recipient uses a separate "Carrier" and each Dialer is dedicated to a Carrier, each dialer will send a message.

Group (Recip-A and Recip-B)

Recip-A uses Carrier-A
Recip-B uses Carrier-B

Dialer 1 (Dedicated to Carrier-A)
Dialer 2 (Dedicated to Carrier-B)
