We have been using PageGate v4 for several years now. Recently, we have been having problems with users not receiving their pages. When pages are sent, they show to be going through successfully. However, users are not receiving those pages. I have contacted the carrier several times and they state they are not having any type of outages. If we manually page the same users by phone the pages are received without any problems. The users are using Alpha/Numeric pagers and we have not made any changes to our servers during this time. Our servers are Windows 2000.

PageGate marks messages as "Successful" when it receives an "acknowledgement" from a Carrier, that the message was received.
Messages sent using SMTP through a "Relay Server" receive an acknowledgement only from the "Relay Server" that it [relay server] received the message. The "Relay Server" is responsible for delivering the message to the Carrier.
The form of the acknowledgement varies per Protocol used to deliver the message.
Please enure that you have detailed connection information being written to your logs by following the directions found in this forum post:
http://www.notepage.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=533
With detailed connection information being written to your logs, you can verify the recipient, protocol, delivery time, message and the acknowledgement received by PageGate.

I have since migrated the program to a new server. The new server is having issues with my US Robotics external fax server stating it is unable to connect to the modem. I then switched to using snpp for all of my carriers and it seemed to work well. However, when I checked the new configuration this morning, we were unable to connect to the carriers via snpp. I tested a telnet connection which completed with no errors. I then turned on the detailed logging and after starting and stopping the server service several times, the issue seemed to have resolved itsself. Can you tell me a reason why I would be able to telnet to the carrier but PageGate is unable to connect?

Was the dialer attempting to deliver the messages, and not able to connect, or were the dialers idle?
Can you post a section of the dialer log from when it was failing?

If it happens again, the detailed log may be more helpful.
In the PageGate program folder there is a file named 'pgdial1.exe'. If you right-click on it, and choose 'Preferences', and then the 'Version' tab, what version does it say that file is?

The current download on our website is newer than the version you are running. You might consider upgrading.
To upgrade:
1. Download the new PageGate evaluation version from our website
2. With PageGate running, switch it back to run as an application
3. Stop PageGate
4. Backup the PageGate Database (pagegate.mdb)
5. Install the new PageGate evaluation version over you current PageGate installation (will remain registered for you)
6. Start PageGate
7. With PageGate running, switch PageGate back to run as a service
