Our fire department is a new PageGate user (version 4). Initial PageGate network and GUI setup and usage (paging via the internet, SNPP protocol) is operating just fine. Being a fire department though requires the ability to call all defined recipient pagers (SBC Paging is the carrier) when needed. To accomplish this, defining a PageGate Group, applying all department recipients to this group individually causes the paging process to complete slowly. My thought is to create a recipient (named All Call Pagers) that instead of applying the pager phone number, use the Master Cap that all the pagers are assigned too. I attempted this and the call was pending for approximately 2 minutes, before the result came back as a 'bad' page attempt. No other information was provided in the PageGate logs. Any ideas to make this happen?
Thanks!

It sounds as though the Carrier rejected the "Master Cap" code that you passed as the ID/Pin for the Recipient "All Call Pagers". Usually, you will see an error in the log stating "Bad ID/Pin".

Can you copy an attempt to send a message to the Recipient "All Call Pagers" from your log file "PGDial1.log" and post it here so that we can see it?

The dialer cannot read the database file.

Please send an email to forumsupport@notepage.com. Attach the "PGDial1.log" file to the email and include the following information:

Name and telephone number

Following paths in PageGate Admin under 'Program' - 'Settings':

Program Directory:
Database Directory:
Log Directory:

PageGate's Run style (Application or NT Service?)

Customer is using an incorrect ID/Pin, and will contact his Carrier for more information.

The log entries posted previously are not from the correct dialer log file.

Entries from the correct dialer log are:

2/17/2005 9:38:46 AM Sending message
2/17/2005 9:38:46 AM Sent:PAGE E00XXXXXXX **(Numbers removed by Tech support)**
2/17/2005 9:38:46 AM Received:451 local error (101) get mailbox

The term "Master CapCode" actually refers to a unique electronic identity burned into each pager. For example: The Motorola Advisor series of alphanumeric pagers have the capability of holding 2 or 3 unique CapCodes. The paging carrier (RCC) will usually assign a unique DID number or PIN to a particular CapCode. For Group paging, they will usually assign a "group" CapCode to one of the alternate addresses in all of the pagers that need to be group members. They will then assign a unique DID or PIN to that particular CapCode. To access the group from PageGate, you simply need to set up that particular DID or PIN up as a single recipient. When you transmit the message to the paging carrier (RCC), their terminal sees it as a single "job" for a single capcode. Their radio transmitter simply broadcasts the message and any pager with that "group CapCode" assigned will receive, decode, and display the text. By offering this service, the paging carrier saves in the long run because it greatly reduces the "load" on their terminals and wireless transmission system(s)

Hope this info helps!
