I got the following message this morning and it prevented pagegate from starting. I tried to open the pagegate.mdb file and it appeared corrputed, but the pgedbbak.mdb was not. I renamed the backup file pagegate.mdb and everything started working again.

What happened that would corrupt the database (it's almost 1mb in size)? Is there a better way to restore this in the future? Which files would you backup on a nightly basis?

I can't say for sure what happened to your database file. There are many possible causes (i.e. power problem, hardware, Windows hickup, etc.) . You may get some more information by looking in the logs and see when the first hint of failure was.

You should be backing up the PageGate database file nightly (pagegate.mdb). If you back up more, that is great, but the database is the most important.

It is possible that the corruption is still in the database you are using. Sometimes little problems in the database tend to grow over time to cause big problems. The database you are using may contain the same small problem and is just waiting to cause a bigger problem later. Your best bet is to shut down all of PageGate and run the rebuild utility from within PG Admin ('Database' -> 'Tools' -> 'Rebuild Database').
