I recently upgraded my solarwinds server, in which I was using notepager pro to send out pages via modem. I went from windows server 2008 to 2012.
Upgraded to notepager pro 5. using the same US Robotics V.92 USB modem.
I've verified that the modem is on COM 3 and that NPP modem port is 3.
I do not get successful connection to my TAP provider.
I can't figure out how to get the activity monitor to allow me to cut and paste so excuse any typos.
Connect using TAP protocol
Setting communication parameters
Attemtpting to reset modem
Modem reset
Attempting to send carrier init string
Carrier init string sent
dialing carrier
waiting for connection
attempting to reset modem
modem reset
it does all this 2 more times
NotePager pro was unable o talk to your modem
Please check your modem port setting
unable to connect to carrier
hanging up modem
modem hung up
i've quadrupule checked everything i can think of. any ideas?

Lee,
Hm... the initial response is that the modem does respond and that it's attempting to dial in to the TAP system but can't handshake with it, so it disconnects and makes the attempt again until it reaches the retry limit.
If you would:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to Tools - Settings - General.
3) Set Logging Level to: Debug
4) Click on Apply.
5) Try to send out a few messages.
6) After they fail, go to View - Activity Log.
7) Click on the Clipboard button.
8) Paste the log in reply to this forum thread so we can have a look at the specifics of what's happening, please. |

| might you have a current known good number for usamobility? i've been scouring the web most of the day, and ive come across about a half dozen numbers, but i have no idea if any of them are good.

and i feel like a dunce. our modem line is the only phone line on campus that doesn't require a leading 9 to dial out. removed the 9 from the number, and its working like a champ!
