|
|
Hello,
I've installed Notepage Pro onto our new Windows 2012 R2 server but am having a bit of a problem at the moment. It's complaining about an OCX file not being found:
29/06/2015 10:57:07 Dialer Started
29/06/2015 10:57:08 Program Halted. Error# 339 Component 'MSCOMM32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid in Procedure: main
I've followed the Win7 64bit install steps and it's installed in the c:\NotePager Pro folder.
I've tried running 'regsvr32 mscomm32.ocx' but it complains that the module fails to load.
What can I do to resolve this?
Thanks

A slight update....I set the compatibility mode for the installer to be XP+SP2 and it seems to have resolved these OCX record issues.
Now just trying to work my way through getting the software talking to my serial GSM modem.
Any tips?

Here's how to configure NotePager Pro to use your cellular modem:
1) Open NotePager Pro.
2) Go to Tools - Settings - Modem.
3) Set the Modem Port to match the COM port of your cellular modem.
4) Click on Apply.
5) Go to Carriers - Add.
6) Give the Carrier a name.
7) Set the following:
Protocol: GSMAT
Baud Rate: 115200
Parity: None
Data Bits: 8
Stop Bits: 1
Init String: AT+CSQ (Note: You'll have to type this in the field)
8) Click on Apply.
Then to add a recipient to use that carrier:
1) Go to Recipients - Add.
2) Give the Recipient a name.
3) Set the Carrier to the Carrier you created in the previous steps.
4) In the ID/PIN field, enter the cell phone number with no spaces or dashes (ex;7818290500).
5) Click on Apply. |

Thanks for the reply.
That's how I have it setup. Putty can communicate with the modem OK on COM1, but Notepager Pro can't for some reason.

Hm... this may be due to the NotePager Pro version 3 engine not being able to make the COM call properly. We have a beta of the next release of NotePager Pro that should be able to access the device and if you're interested, please email support at notepage dot com so we can start the process of registering you as a beta user. |

Thanks I will do.
I've just realised that NotePager can't run as a background service either. Is that right or am I missing the necessary settings?
Thanks

NotePager Pro was only ever programmed to run as an application. If you need something that can run as a Windows service, I would definitely recommend our other program, PageGate. PageGate is our server based solution that can run as a Windows service and also has far, far more robust support for cellular modems than NotePager Pro does. |

Ok thanks. Is there an upgrade option from NotePager as I've just bought it!
