Hello,

Our PageGate Version 5.0 has recipients for both Verizon and AT&T.

The AT&T recipients receive the alerts from the same number, however, the Verizon recipients are always receiving the alerts from a different number.

Is there any way to resolve this and have our Verizon recipients receive text alerts from the same number every time? What do we need to do to get this in place?

Anyone's assistance is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Farzad

Are you using GSM modems to deliver the messages (one modem for ATT and another for Verizon)?

Both Verizon and AT&T are setup via TAP to connect to the carrier's modem terminals.

Unfortunately the carrier's TAP terminals have no way to collect a 'reply-to' phone number when it accepts messages, so they carriers are probably just using some sort of generic phone number when it is required in the message header.

There really isn't anything you can do to change that.

Sorry.

You can upgrade PageGate version 5 to version 7 for $250.00: http://notepage.net/purchase.htm

If that is the case how is it the AT&T recipients are receiving alerts from the same number every time? Our AT&T carrier is also setup via TAP. That is what has confused us... It is only our Verizon users that are getting alerts from a random number every time.

What is offered in Version 7 that will give us this capability?

Thanks for your help

That would suggest that AT&T just uses the same number in the message header for every message they receive via TAP and send out to their phones. It appears that Verizon just chooses a random (may have some sort of meaning to them) to use in the headers.

Unfortunately you/we have no control over that. You could try calling Verizon, but I doubt they will make any changes to their system.

PageGate version 7 will not be able to change that behavior, because it is out of control of anyone using the TAP protocol.

AT&T's TAP modem pool all points to the same SMSC (SMS Service Center) internally. Verizon (as a CDMA carrier) uses many different routes depending on system traffic, region, roaming, etc.

Hmmm ok thanks for the info.

I suppose my last question would be what would I need to do to obtain this feature? It is something that is greatly desired by my team.

If we changed to GSM-AT would that enable the ability for the carriers? If not, any suggestions or can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you

If you install and configure a Cellular Modem and use the GSM-AT protocol to connect to it, then all your messages would be seen by the recipients as coming FROM the cellular number associated with that device.
