Hi all
As the subject says is it possible to edit emails prior to sending as sms?
We have two page gate servers receiving emails from aou CA Spectrum servers. We have configured Spectrum to only send out the minimum of information required as an email to Page Gate. However this is still too much for a single message and the important information is being dropped off the end.
So basically is there ways for Page Gate to received the email and remove unwanted information at the start and then forward the remaining information?
Thanks for any help.
Glen

That depends on what type of edits you want to make. Are there always certain phrases you're going to want removed or is it always going to be text before a certain point in the email? |

Hi and thanks for your reply,
Neither of those would work for this particular implementation. Basically I need to pick out pieces of unwanted information that could be in any location in the body of the email. So basically it could end up being quite specific to certain messages.
Sounds like I need to address the issue prior to the email reaching Pagegate, would you agree?
Thanks

Likely so, yes, but just in case you can't, there is something that can be done. I'm not certain what version you're using but if you're using PageGate version 6, you can have our GetMail module output all of the received email as text files to a directory. You could then have our GetAscii module read these files back in and apply post-processing edits to remove predetermined phrases or words or you could use one of our templates to completely change the order, sequence and structure to the data. It may not be as robust as having the message modified prior to it reaching PageGate but if that's not an option, PageGate can still give you some post-processing functionality. |
