PostPosted: Thu Dec 12, 2013 2:47 pm    Post subject: PG v6 and PRTG no UP notices Reply with quote

Hello,

I'm running PG v6 using GetASCII to send SMS txt from PRTG 13.4.6.3375.

Everything testing using the PGGUI works fine. PRTG reports when a trigger shows a device failed but does not send the up when it comes back online. The PRTG log shows it UP trigger calling Pagegate but the PG logs do not show anything ? The execute program is sendpage32.exe The server is WIn2008 R2 -64bit. I'm wondering if I maybe I should be using sendpage.exe but can't find any information one way or the other. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas...

Thanks

Tim

Here are the PRTG logs:

There are a couple of things I want to check. If you would, open the PG Admin and go to the Interfaces - GetAscii - Settings. What's your polling directory set to?

That's what I was going to ask next. If it's picking up the down alert okay, I think there may be something missing or misconfigured with the up alert. So, if you would, go in to the settings of the down alert and the up alert and make sure they're configured similarly.

Here are the connector logs. It looks like it has trouble hanging up the modem ? as the txt never came even though it says successfully sent. The down message is below and it was OK ??

Just to double check, what version of PageGate are you using? Also, what make and model of cellular modem are you using?

1) make sure "drop non printable characters" is checked in the carrier and recipient
2) In the INIT string for the CARRIER - use AT+CSQ
this will check and log the signal strength at the time of transmission

The drop non-printable characters were checked in all locations. I also added the signal strength check. Interestingly I set it to a group with two recipients and the first one goes through OK ? but not the second. On the down message they both go through fine, it is very repeatable.

Something weird has to be going on, but what ?

As a test - i sent SMS traffic to the # that appears to be failing from one of my lab numbers - I received a reply that the message was received. Curious - are ALL the RECIPIENT's cellular devices on the same wireless carrier? is there a pattern?

I tested trying different recipients and it always happens on last recipient only and only on the UP message...

Thanks

If you would, please email the c:\PageGateData\Logs\*.log and c:\PageGateData\Database\pagegate.mdb files to support at notepage dot com so we can take a look at a few things.

As a followup to the thread, this seems to have resolved the issue:

1) In Windows, go to Start - Run.

2) In the Run line, type the following and click OK: regedit

3) In the Registry Editor, browse to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software - Wow6432Node - NotePage - PageGate

4) Right click on the right hand panel, mouse over new and select DWord.

5) Name the new entry: GSM_Message_Delay

6) Double click on the GSM_Message_Delay entry to edit the value.

7) Set the value to: 1000

8) Save the value, then close the registry editor.

9) Stop and Start the PageGate services.
