Is it possible to configure Pagegate to send directly to a networked printer?

The desire is to replicate the old "Rip and Run" fire station printing functionality (a Computer Aided Dispatch interface is in place). We currently send pages to various devices upon dispatch, and can configure to send the message to a fax machine - but would like to be able to send directly to a network printer.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sky

PageGate can't send direct print commands but... you may be able to get it to do what you want, depending on a few things.

PageGate can do a Raw TCP packet dump to any IP address that you specify, so it may be possible to configure the program to pass the TCP information to the IP of the network printer. Though, depending on the printer, that either may or may not work depending whether it can or can't interpret the raw TCP packets.

Do you know if the network printer can monitor a directory for text files and then print anything that shows up in that folder? If so, you can configure PageGate to use the FILE protocol for a carrier. That would tell it to write any messages to a directory that you would specify, which the printer would then read in and print.

I have used this with success in the past:

http://www.lerup.com/printfile/

Set up a FILE carrier
Set up a Recipient using that carrier
Make that recipient a member of any group who's messages you need printed
