|
|
We currently have an in-house 2200 terminal that the RS232 port on the back plain is used for Zbase & Comptech communications. We use a Multiport 702-9191 for serial connectivity to a Lantronix UDS2100 which is driven by the PageGate software, (works great).
We will be needing to attach to a remote 2200 paging terminal in another city. I have not seen the terminal but I assume the back plain RS232 is connected to the modem that us used for Zbase programming so an additional 702-9191 and cable harness will be needed as well as another "connector" for PageGate.
What is the recommended procedure and settings to attach a modem to the terminal. Probably a USR modem will be used unless there is a preferred brand. What should the settings for the remote and local modem be and the dial strings.
We are also contemplating using Viop for dialing the remote modem, that appears to not be an issue, any recommended services for that? VIOPo seems to be reasonably priced for low usage.
Thanks Scott

Scott,
For recommendations on how to configure a modem on the terminal itself, I'd recommend contacting Zetron directly to ask them.
As for the configuration in PageGate, the only thing you have to do is leave Direct Connect unchecked in the connector and provide the phone number in the carrier. Other than that, the setup is exactly the same in our software. |

Thanks for the reply, I realize I can contact Zetron tech support, I was hopping someone in the forum had some practical experience that they would share as I am sure this is not the first time this has been done :).
