| As far as I'm aware, this is not true. I've not heard anything about Verizon having any plans to scrap their TAP service or to start charging for it. |

Okay, from what I've gathered, Verizon isn't doing active maintenance on their free TAP system and it will eventually go away as the modems fail and are not replaced. This means that the free TAP system is going to eventually go away in a few years but there really isn't an exact date as to when it may eventually go offline.
The "official" VZW company line is "Free TAP access, much like 10digit#@vtext.com, is a consumer grade service at no charge and, as such, has no guarantee of stabilibility or reliability. If you need reliability and stability, subscribe to VZW Enterprise messagging - for a fee"
If it comes to it, using a cellular modem is the best way to deliver messages if you're going to have to start paying a monthly fee for an Enterprise Messaging solution. Cellular modems can send to any cel number. |
