Verify that it's checked under the "Run on this server" section in the Program - Settings section of the Admin. If it is, under the Interfaces, Right Click on GetAscii and tell it to start, then see if it goes green in the monitor and picks up the files.

Same setup with the Multitech modem but with NPM rather than WhatsUp. any differences?

there are differences in the configuration of the program, yes. Also, there may be some differences based on the operating system you're using. So, what OS are you using and are PageGate and NPM going to be installed on the same system or different systems?

We are running NPM on a win server 2008 r2 standard that is a vm. due to this I think we have to put our gsm modem on a different box just like we did with WhatsUp so pagegate will be on a different box. It is on a win 7 enterprise edition box

As long as PageGate has direct COM port access to the device, that should be okay... but if PageGate doesn't have direct access to the modem, that's nto really going to work. So, if you can share the device with the PG Virtual Machine, that should work.

Oh, I misunderstood what you posted. In that case, just make sure that the cellular modem is connected to the PC that PageGate is installed on so that id does have direct COM port access to the device.

As for the integration with NPM, the integration should be almost identical as far as the GetAscii configuration is concerned.

1) WHICH model MultiTech Device is it?
2) Is it RS-232 or USB (and, if RS-232, are you trying to use a Serial-USB adaptor)?
3) Which version PageGate (and which build)?

What COM port did Windows install the modem on? Can you interact with the modem via AT commands using HyperTerminal or PuTTY? If yes, do you have the connector pointed at the correct COM port at a baud rate of 115,200?
