Setting up verizon as first carrier. Set them up as smtp. Setup recipient email as 910658????@vtext.com. ???? was actual number. We use charter as ISP and charter.net is what I used for the local domain. It is using my internal router ip of 192.168.1.1 as default gateway. No firewall in place. Sending message just loops never sends.
Can email 910658????@vtext.com and receive the message.

By default, Charter has port 25 (the primary communication port for SMTP) blocked. You'll need to contact their ISP and either have them open port 25 or find out the answer to these three questions:
1) What SMTP Server can you use?
2) Does that server require authentication?
3) What specific username and password should you authenticate with?
If they open port 25 for you, you shouldn't need to do anything further in our program. If you have to go the relayed route, you'll want to do this:
1) In the PageGate Admin, go to Connectors - Global - SMTP.
2) Set the local domain to: charter.net
3) Put a check in Relay All Mail.
4) Enter the SMTP Server you were given in the Relay Server field.
5) Click on Apply.
6) Go in to the Advanced sub-section of every SMTP carrier you have in the Carriers list.
7) In the Authentication field on the right hand side, enter the username and password you were told to use separated by a pipe. For example: something@charter.net|password
The | is Shift+\ on your keyboard.
8) Click on Apply. |

I have Notepager Pro not the gateway product, does that make a difference?

Ah, yes it does. I thought that since you'd posted in the PageGate forum that you were using PageGate. Since you're using NotePager Pro, we still need to know the same information (whether you can have port 25 opened or not and, if not, what the mail server and authentication requirements are). The steps for configuration are slightly different, though. So, when you get that information, please email support at notepage dot com so we can complete the configuration. |
