Tried everything. Have a competing pager program that can send email/text to this AT&T phone. Carrier settings: Carrier: RR Protocol: SMTP Max char: 240 Local domain: kc.rr.com checked "Deliver through local email server" Relay server: smtp-server.kc.rr.com. I have tried every other combination possibility and option I can think of. Also will not work with carrier set to email (I can easily text this phone with an email from Outlook). Perhaps I have entered something wrong, it's not clear in help file, can you be specific on entering my SMTP info? Carrier AT&T TAP 18009094602 showed successful a couple times after several busy signals and handshake failures but text does not arrive at phone ever. (Using WinXP pro if it matters)
I'd prefer using email / SMTP protocol but here's the TAP dialer log if we can get anything at all to work (but AT&T's TAP server sure seems squirrely):

What make and model of modem are you using? It's having trouble handshaking with with the AT&T TAP system... but that may be due to the fact that AT&T is having an issue with their TAP system and have for about a week now.

As for the SMTP setup, do you know if that mail server (smtp-server.kc.rr.com) requires authentication?

Didn't require authentication to work over email/SMTP with same server with the other paging program (Alpha....) so no. Modem is Conexant D850 56k v9x DFVc. I'm still unsure if I have things entered correctly in email and/or SMTP protocol setups.

Try this:

1) Go to Carriers - Edit.

2) Highlight your AT&T carrier, left click on Edit.

3) Set the protocol to: SMTP

4) Set the local domain to: kc.rr.com

5) Move the dot down to "deliver through local mail server" and enter: smtp-server.kc.rr.com

6) Click on Apply.

7) Go to Recipients - Edit.

8) Edit your AT&T recipients.

9) Make sure that they have 10digitcel@txt.att.net (ex;7320123888@txt.att.net) in their Email to field.

10) Finally, go to Tools - Settings - General.

11) The Sender's Name must be the prefix to a valid kc.rr.com email address. So, if you have an address called whatever@kc.rr.com, the Sender's name in Notepager Pro should be whatever.

12) Apply that change and give it a try.

Success!! Thanks very much. I believe RR was rejecting due to no user name. Thanks again.
