att tap not working

Is anyone else having problems with ATT's tap all of a sudden? It rings busy and fails to send text. We are using and have been using 18009094602 for tap for the past year with no problems, just started failing a few days ago.

A few customers were having trouble with that number over the weekend, but it seemed to be working again this morning.

If it is down again, you will probably want to contact AT&T and let them know (sorry but we don't have any contact info for that).

ATT (along with ALL other cellular carriers) is in the process of shutting down the free access to their TAP system. For ATT, the only way to RELIABLY use TAP is to subscribe the recipient device to "Enterprise Paging". The down side to this, however, is that ATT charges $10.00 per month per phone for the access.

This is why MANY of our PageGate customers are installing cellular modems on their systems and using the GSM-AT protocol to reach cell phones.
