Is there a way to have the group pages function properly without having to have all members viewable in the list as well? We are attempting to use this for group notifications to chiefs and other essential personnel but do not want to grant access to the individual pagers.

As far as I've been able to work out the group pages only function when the individual is visially available in the GUI client listing. Is there any way around this?

Create a Display Group and lock the PG Clients to the Display Group. When a client is locked to a Display Group, it will only display the members you've added to the Display group. So, for example, you could add your group to the display group but not the individual recipients. The client would then only display the group.

I am still unable to get this to work. My "Display Groups" do not show up on the Client and I cannot find a setting to get them to do so. The only ones that will are "Groups". The manual has no specific information that I can find which expands on this topic. I was only given the manual and the program so if there are detailed setup instructions I am not aware of them.....that's probably where my answer lies.

... wait, are you using PageGate v4 or v5?

If you're using PageGate v5 and you create a Display Group, you can go into the PageGate Client and go to File - Setup. You should then see a dropdown section for Display Group that will allow you to lock that client to a Display Group.

While CLIENT is open, look at the top left FILE->SETUP

Once there, you'll see lock to display group

Thanks to you both - that worked! I guess they will simply have to select the group each time they need to page but at least there is no access to the entire listing.

I appreciate your assistance!

NO - you can make individual recipients members of DISPLAY GROUPS as well

EXAMPLE: A Hospital has a large PageGate with Dr's, Nurses, and administrators

The Switchboard needs to be able to page ANYONE, the Nurses need to be able to page each other and Dr's, and the ADmin staff needs to be able to page each other and some nurses and Dr's

Set up 3 Display groups:

1) Display EVERYONE
2) Display to Nurse's Stations
3) Display to ADMINISTRATORS

Now, open the new display group and select all groups and recipients that that instance of client needs (The switchboard should have all, the nurses stations may only have Dr's and nurses, etc).

Now, "Lock" each instance of guiCLIENT so that it can only "see" a particular display group - remember that recipients and groups can be members of multiple display groups at the same time

I believe I understand that now. We have 8 different positions with a client on each and I will need to lock each one to a group - it's the locking to a particular group that I was referring to. I would have liked each position to be able to page any of the display groups (ie: weather, 911, roads, etc) directly from the recipient list rather than being locked to a particular group at each station. Just trying to cut out as many steps as possible.

I did some test runs with both individuals and groups in the display with great results though - that will help a lot.

Thanks!

I still think you misunderstand:
You wrote "I would have liked each position to be able to page any of the display groups (ie: weather, 911, roads, etc) directly from the recipient list "

You can have a group called "Weather", "911", "Roads", or whatever. Then, these GROUPS can be MEMBERS of a DISPLAY GROUP

This is standard practice in every 911 dispatch center I install PageGate for

No - they were working as you suggested they should. I had not changed one setting so my display was not showing the list properly. Each position can page any of the groups on the list and they are locked to groups only.

Thanks again for your help!

You can make individuel recipients MEMBERS of a of the DISPLAY GROUP that you have your client locked to - this way, the client will be able to select individuals and groups, or both
