I have a Perle PCI-RAS 4 card with 4 Multi-Tech V.92 modems. I'm using this with PageGate "GetASCII". All runs well but then the software will stop "talking" to the modem and make it unreachable without a system soft reboot.
Is this a known problem and do you have a solution short of rebooting which in this case is a production server Running EMC Smarts (IONIX).

That sounds like hardware difficulty. There isn't anything in the software that would suddenly make a COM port unavailable. Check for driver updates and check with the device's manufacturer to see if this is a known issue.

Yes, I've gone through that with Perle and Multi-Tech, no resolution.

Just to verify, what build of PageGate are you running? To check, go into the properties of the pagegate.exe file in the PageGate program directory, then go under the Version tab.

I have seen similar issues before with multimodem cards, just not specifically the Perle device you're using. The issue was tracked down to a memory leak partially caused by the drivers keeping the COM ports open. It was made worse when the built in fax drivers fought with the MS fax drivers
