We use Page Gate interfaced to our CAD system to notify volunteer firefighters in case they are not close to their radio pagers at the time of a dispatch. Recently three of our firemen switched to Droid phones. They're telling me that in the last week or so they still get the pages but only the first 30 or 40 characters. Others in the same paging group with the same carrier but different devices are still getting full pages. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?

That's a bit odd... there wouldn't be any reason on the PageGate side of things that the message would be truncated, especially if other devices are receiving the full text. If you would, please email the .log files from c:\pagegatedata\logs\ to support at notepage dot com and let me know the name and date/time of a message that was truncated to that device. |

Will do and I completely agree. i believe it is on the device side since the "sent messages" report shows the same thing going out for all members. That's why I was hoping someone else using droid phones had encountered it.

Most CAD systems can be integrated with PageGate via the GetAscii or GetSerial modules. If you can let me know what CAD system you're using, I can likely tell you how to integrate it with PageGate. |

Greetings.
Can anyone share of possible solutions to the Droid anomaly that was discussed in this thread? I am starting to receive complaints as well. Was it discovered to be an issue on the phone/provider side versus PageGate?

It ended up being an issue with the Max Chars settings in the carriers and recipients. The Max Chars value for the carrier should be set to 160, the Max Chars value for the recipients needs to be set to anything higher than 160 (up to 5000). |
