How do I setup a USB (US robotics) modem so Notepager 3.0 can use it for pager?

Have you already installed the modem in the computer and has Windows assigned it a COM port?

Bump on this.

I'm trying out NotePager pro (eval) to use with NMS alerting via SMS.

NotePager Pro is not recognizing my USB modem. USB Modem is BandLuxe 3G modem and on devicemanager it shows:
BandLuxe AT Port (COM5)
BandLuxe Diag Port (COM6)

On phone and modem settings:
BandLuxe HSPA modem attached to COM4.

I can connect via serial to COM4 and COM5 and execute AT which returns OK
I can connect via serial to COM6 and execute AT which returns ERROR.

On phone and modem settings I can query the modem and get the results.

Can anyone suggest what could be the problem? Notepager searches for the modem and doesn't find it. I tried manually configuring the modem for COM4, COM5, COM6 and it says: NotePager pro was unable to talk to your modem. Check settings.

Thanks,
Delgee

Delgee,

Hmm... you may need to switch to PageGate in order for this to work. The current version of NotePager Pro really isn't the best at accessing virtualized USB COM ports.

There is one thing I'd like you to check, though. Go into your Services list in Windows and let me know if you have the Routing and Remote Services service enabled or disabled.

Hi,

I checked the service routing and remote access, its disabled and stopped.

The reason I'm trying to use NotePager Pro is because we are using SolarWinds Orion NPM seems to have built in support for NotePager for alert actions.

Do you think I can use PageGate along with SolarWinds?

Thanks,
Delgee

Oh, absolutely. SolarWinds can integrate just as easily with PageGate as it can with NotePager Pro.

I got the pagegate and it still doesn't recognize my USB modem. Does anybody know what could be the issue?

If you would, please email your contact information to support at notepage dot com. Setting up PageGate is a little more involved than setting up NotePager Pro and it might be easier if we could give you a ring.
