|
|
Hello,
I trying out my TAP software on my Nextel Blackberry. (shortned)
My software: The Service:
-ATZ
-ATDT14434636683 "Connect 1200"
-<CR> ID=
-<ESC>PG1<CR> 110...Welcome to Nextel
-<STX>4434633653<CR>TEST<CR>
<ETX>368<CR> 514 Checksum error
This happens even if I put in a bogus ID number.
I tried two different software programs with the same logic and I get the same error message. I can use some canned SendTopager software and it works.
I'm at a lost for an explanation. Thanks in advance.
I also tried using just the 7 number ID and the same results.

I haven't tried those, but I don't have a subscriber service. Are you suggesting that I try them to see how far I get?

yres - even if you don't have a valid device on their network, you should get far enough through the negotiation to verify where the issue lies. EXAMPLE: If you connect to ARCH or USAMobility and use the "pin" 9991234567, you should get a rejection "Invalid ID". This is because that device does not exist and will show that your current configuration works properly_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Also - when I get back to the office tomorrow - I'll try the NexTel TAP number you have with one of my NexTel devices and see if it may be on their end. If I find an issue there - I'll contact the person responsible for their messaging system and let them know_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

And did you use the "newest" release of the TAP protocol? IIRC, there were 4 versions over the years and there were some reasonably significant changes in the last one (last one was a long time ago though)
Please send your direct contact info off list - it MAY be something REALLY simple, like a missing <LF>_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

I'm using TAP Version 1.8 Feb 1997.
My work phone is 240-228-6377
Home Phone 301-262-0443
email address: tonyparreg@netscape.net
Below is a snippet of the code that send the message out through modem port.
CString message1 = "\x02";
CString message2 = "4434633653\rTEST\r";
CString message3 = "\x03";
CString message4 = "3";
CString message5 = "6";
CString message6 = "8";
CString message7 = "\r";
completeMessage = message1+message2+message3+message4
+message5+message6+message7;
I also tried to Arch and it sent back "eee" but it did not complain about the
pager id.
