I am having some problems similar to many others.
Authentication could be problem, not sure.
Need help with basics for a) Windstream as ISP and b) paging SMTP to verizon phones.
we can get it to work, but it "times out" for quote a while, showing a long series of "Received:" messages. So times out, and then finally goes through.
Any ideas? We need to speed the process up due to number of individuals being concurrently paged.
thanks!
Steve

Steve,
Actually, if you're getting line after line of received, you're running an older build of the program and need to install the latest build from the website. Just go to www.notepage.net, download the latest installation file for notepager pro, install the update, and reboot the computer.
After you reboot, that should take care of the issue you're having. |

Looks like we are already running versikon 3. No change with Download.
Is there a Document or White Paper that details SMTP setup for your program?
Does your network version support authentication, especially to a single account, allowing pass through of SMTP traffic?
Thank you!

The version number won't change, the version is still 3. We just needed to update the build of the program you have installed because of the "received lines" issue that you were running into.
For information on how to configure SMTP based carriers and settings, please see our manual at http://www.notepage.net/support.htm or our FAQ's at http://www.notepage.net/knowledgebase.htm
As for the authentication, NotePager Pro doesn't currently support it. PageGate, however, does. |

I am now testing Page Gate and still having issues trying to page to Verizon.
It looks like we are authenticating with our local ISP but it is failing at the Verizon end.
Can someone from tech support call me please? You already have my contact information.

Actually, if you would, please email me the log files from your c:\pagegatedata\logs\ folder. I'd like to have a look at the SMTP transactions that are taking place. |

Sent new log and email.
We are still having issues sending SMTP with some user names and not others.
Have changed the "ID" sent for all Work Stations so user name does not come up, and so far, so good. But I'd like to isolate the cause for these failures so they can be resolved and don't come back to haunt us later.
thank you!

Oh, I thought I'd explained it earlier. My mistake.
What you were running into is that your Mail Server is rightfully picky about certain parts of the SMTP transaction. The information that PageGate uses in the Mail From command needs to match the account you're using to authenticate the SMTP messages with. If they don't match, it rejects it.
PageGate pulls the information to send in the Mail From portion from the sender's information. |

If I am understanding you, then this makes no sense!
This means that I need to have a valid email on the domain for every user sending pages. PLUS I would need to set up a separate Carrier for each "sender" so that the authentication is set to match every email address.
This cannot be correct.
Neverthelese, by removing the %LoginName% from the client side, and putting in something generic (like WXYZ) the pages are working consistently. But this was not what the client really wanted. They would like to be able to see who is sending the pages.
