More often than not, I've seen this happen when the modem is using either a generic or outdated driver build. My recommendation would be to visit either the Windows Update site or the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your Operating System. That should take care of the problem. |

You may want try NotePager Pro software, which sends messages from your computer out a modem and high-speed internet connection to cell phones. Features include groups, reports, preprogram and schedule messages.
Download a free 30-day trial of NotePager Pro at http://www.notepage.net/software.htm

How do I add an extra ethernet port to my modem?
I have a Verizon DSL modem with only one ethernet port, and I need to be able to support 2 computers that can both be connected at the same time. We've tried a router, and it didn't really work so well (kept losing the connection to the internet). I've heard that they sell splitters for ethernet cables. Would they work, and support 2 simultaneously active connections? Are there any other solutions? Thanks!

Notepager Pro is intended for a SINGLE machine use - to use a newtorked version for multiple PC's - look into PageGate, which was designed specifically for that_________________ Aaron D. Osgood

Bianca,
This isn't really the forum for general internet hardware tech support but... you should really consinder using a router. Ethernet splitters are something you generally want to avoid. If you need two systems on the net, go with a router. Or hub. Or switch. I suppose, in a pinch, if your 'primary' system (the one with the DSL modem plugged into it) has an EXTRA ethernet port/card, you could use a crossover cable to connect the two comptuers together and the secondary system could use the primary system as a gateway to the net. |
