Is there anyway to use LDAP to allow internal emails sent via PageGate to resolve to our internal Lotus Notes SMTP relay rather than going outside and coming back into the network.

If I put someone@my-company.com , the message goes outside the network and tries hitting 6 servers coming back in so it is extremely slow and inefficient. If I set it to relay all SMTP messages, it resolve in one hop. However, setting it to relay all SMTP messages through our mail server defeats the purpose of us using the software to notify us when a system is down (especially if it is a mail server).

I want the pages for our external devices (cell phones and pagers) to connect directly to the service provider using SMTP like it does now, but not have email destined for inside the company to leave the company and come back in trying 6 servers before finding the correct SMTP server.

Our goal is to be able to send out mass alerts to include emails and pages during specific events

This may be an overly simplistic way to do it but you could edit the lmhosts file on the PageGate Server. If you add a line that says:

my-company.com <IP of internal Lotus Notes Server here>

then any time that the PageGate computer goes to do a lookup on your my-company.com domain, it'll autoroute it to the IP of your Lotus Notes server.
