Hmm... well, this is either one of two things, so let's try to narrow it down a little. If you would, run these tests and let me know what happens:

1) In Windows, go to Start - Run.

2) In the Run line, type the following and click on OK: command

3) In the command prompt, type the following and hit enter:

telnet notepage.com 25

Let me know what happens when you do that.

In a new command prompt, type the following and hit enter:

telnet smtp-bb.vtext.com 25

Let me know what happens when you do that.

In a new command prompt, type the following and hit enter:

telnet mailx.tmomail.net 25

Let me know what happens when you do that.

I have determined that we had a virus/trojan that started generating mass emails from the ip address of this computer and therfore were were black listed. I have since cleaned up the computer and de-listed that computer and things seem to be working now.

I am still having problems with SMTP after being black listed. I have de-listed the ip address and have been taken off of the list, but as of right now the only smtp server that will accept my messages is nTelos. All other smtp carriers (Verizon, TMobile, Sprint, AT&T, Cingular) will not. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure "Send Subject" is checked on each recipient

It still does not go through with the "Send Subject" checked.

In reference to the reply from Tech support with the telnet instructions:

When telnet to notepage I get 220 qs.1534.pair.com ESMTP Postfix

telnet to smtp-bb.vtext.com 25 I get 554 njrspamp4.vtext.com connection lost

telnet mailx.tmomail.net 25 will do nothing

I'm assuming that I am sending messages out on Port 25 therefore they are being blocked by these servers and I need to create an access list to allow them. I am not familiar with creating an access list in a Cisco router so any assistance would be helpful.

Since I am being blocked if I use a relay server would that temporarily get me back to where I could at least send messages until I can get un-blocked again?

Also, I have an mx record for the ip address that is blocked. What if I put that dns name in as the relay server and not my exchange server, would that work or would I still get blocked?

If you use a relay server - the receiving carrier sees the IP on the server - not the PageGate server

Using my mail server as a relay server did not work either.

Please email your log files to support at notepage dot com so I can see why the messages failed. If I had to guess, I'd say that you weren't authenticating properly with your mail server and if we updated those settings, it would work but I'd like to see the logs so I can know for sure.
