220 response when testing port 25

I can't do smtp messaging from my pc.. don't have a problem with snpp but not many carriers offer that service. I did the test and got the 220 response. I am running a windows xp. When I did the test to see if the smtp's were being blocked it came back with this response:

220 qs1534.pair.com ESMTP postfix

What can I do to correct the problem.. I think this is the only thing that's keeping me from doing smtp through AT&T,Verizon, and T-Mobile.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Well... that means prot 25 is open but it doesn't necessarily mean that the carriers are going to accept the traffic from your computer(s).

Try this:

telnet atlsmtp.cingularme.net 25

Let me know what happens.

the response i get entering telnet atlsmtp.cingularme.net 25 is this :

220 atledge02.cingularme.com ESMTP server <InterMail vG.1.02.00.03 201-2136-104-103-20050318> ready Fri, 5 Dec 2008 16:07:38 -0500
421 atledge02.cingularme.com Lost connection to [71.98.192.172]

Connection to host lost.

Hmm... if you would, send your log file over to support at notepage dot com. At this point, I'm leaning in the direction of it either being a DNS or Firewall issue.
