|
|
I created a group "test" under groups and attached the GUILIST.htm to the webpage section and can test page from that but when I go to check it under the web address \\xxxxxx\test it does not show up. I compared the settings to all the other (which work) and still nothing. I even attempted all the suggestions that were given on previous post. Anything would be of great help. Thanks.

I don't know if this is the mistake or not but you gave the wrong slash in the example (\\xxxxxx\test). It should be http://webserver/test/
Also, check the hard drive of the web server under the wwwroot for a directory called test.
One last thing, are you doing this from the Admin on the server itself or on one of the workstation admins?

http://xxxxxx/test/, your right this is what it should be, guess I was in a hurry. I checked under the wwwroot and there is no "test" directory.
It does work if I manually add the test directory and then copy paste the two default.htm and index files and then modify them. ??
I am doing all of this on the server itself.

If you open the PageGate Admin and go to the Interfaces - GetWeb - Settings, what do you have set as the Web Pages directory?

Wait... are the PageGate server and the Web Server two different systems? Also, when you mentioned that you browsed to that directory, what was it before then?

pagegate is the name of the server that runs the pagegate admin program.
In order to populate the web page field I browsed to the server then to the wwwroot folder
hope this helps

Actually... I need a little clarification. Do the PageGate server and the web server (IIS, Apache, whatever) run on the same system? If so, is the path in the Web Pages path a local path (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\) or is it a UNC path like you listed above (\\server\path\) ?[/b]

The server and the web server does in fact run on the same system.
The path is a UNC so do you think changing it to local would correct the problem?

Welll.... yes and no. Changing it to a local path will let the Server copy of the Admin create the web based groups and update the listing of the members in the groups but it'll also mean that any time one of the workstation admins updates the group list, the website's not going to be updated because c:\inetpub\wwwroot isn't a valid path for one of the workstations.
So... do you use the workstation admin?

When you say it's never worked, do you get database reading errors when you try to run the Additional Admin from the workstation(s)?

If memory serves me right you could enter all the information on the workstation admin side and it would act as if it made the changes but when you checked the server admin side the changes never happened.

Typically, that means that the workstation admins were pointed at one database and the server itself was pointed at a separate database. That's really the only way that changes would show up in one admin and not the other because those variables are written to the database itself.
Is the PageGate Database directory on the server itself shared on your network?

The DB sets under the scripts folder and the folder is shared out
