I am using PageGate in a health care setting. For the group of employees that only carry a Verizon Blackberries, I would like to connect an Airlink Raven-X cellular modem on Verizon Wireless via another serial port. Any suggestions for configuring the Raven and the connector in Pagegate?

Messages sent via SMS would be considered a 'hot" or priority message, otherwise they are sent via the BES (email)

Edit: Added text in red for clarity

Is the "Raven" capable of being controlled via the AT command set? If so, you should be able to use the "GSM-AT" protocol. MOST CDMA (Verizon and Sprint) devices do NOT handle the AT command set - there are special purpose devices (such as the MultiTech Systems Cellular modems) that can do this, however.

As a side note, Verizon Wireless told us they do not support the Multitech gateway. I am currently using one on another carrier. Sending SMS across carriers is what I am trying to eliminate.

I wil try using the AT command set via the serial port.

I am not sure who you spoke with, but I have several MultiTech cellular modems running on the Verizon network.
