Hi,
how can i configure the PageGate Admin consle to use the the area cod.
Soon we will have to use it for local call and I would like to test it first.
For now we have 7 digits number for our pager with AT&t in qubec City, Canada.
So I modify the Carriers and the Recipients wit the area code, 418, but it's not working.

What should I configure to work this out??

BTW, how it's possible to add more thant two GUI Client so my Recipient list can include paging and cell phone recipient??

Thx.

Please clarify:

PageGate ADMIN doesn't use "Area Codes" per se, they are used when connecting to a TAP system via modem (only if the phone line connected to the PageGate PC requires them to reach the TAP modem number of the specified carrier. If I understand your question, it sounds like the wireless carrier is changing the device ID's - requiring you to use 10 digits instead of 7 digits to properly address the message. If this is so, you will need to change the ID field on all affected recipients. Here's a hint:
A) use the EXPORT tool to export all recipient settings
B) Open the file with notepad and use Search/Replace to add the area code where needed
C) Save the modified file
D) Use the IMPORT feature to import the recipients

For your second question:
1) Assume you have a recipient named "Smith, John" and his pager info is used
2) Make a new recipient named "Smith, John_CELL"
3) Make a GROUP named "Smith, John"
Make the 2 original recipients members of that group

Hi OzCom,

for now PageGate use 7 digits for our pager ; 5224588 but in september we will have to use te areacode for our local call -->4185224588.
But when I use the new setting; modify the ID/PIN and make some test, the message go into the bad recipient in GUI Client.

I've modify the Carriers setting too with the same result.

Here is one recipient exported :
"401","vtouchette","Vincent Touchette","5224588","Roger_ATT","","2000",#FALSE#,"999",#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#TRUE#,
"0",#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,"",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","",#FALSE#,"10:00:00 PM","8:00:00 AM"

For the second part, can I use the same cerrier for different cell provider or should I create a Carrier for each provider with a Dialer in the Connectors section?

Anyway I create one recipe for pager and another for cell but when I try to create a Group I have a message: That name is already in use.
But there is no group. -- vtouchette is the Group I try to create
Here are the two test recipients:
"401","vtouchette","Vincent Touchette","5224588","Roger_ATT","","2000",#FALSE#,"999",#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#TRUE#,
"0",#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,"",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","",#FALSE#,"10:00:00 PM","8:00:00 AM"
"401","vtouchette_telus","Vincent Touchette cell","8012566","Telus","","140",#FALSE#,"999",#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,#TRUE#,
"0",#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,#TRUE#,"",#FALSE#,#FALSE#,"",#FALSE#,"","","","",#FALSE#,"10:00:00 PM","8:00:00 AM"

Any advice?

When PageGate sends a message to the device - it does NOT actually dial the device. It uses a modem to dial the WIRELESS CARRIER and initiates a TAP session. Once a TAP session has been entered, the wireless carrier asks for the device identity (you are currently using 7 digits).

In your case - it would make sence to upgrade to version 5 (adds a lot of functionality) and make use of the MAX PIN LENGTH feature. With this, you can program the devices 10 digit ID in now and only use the last 7 until the carrier change takes place.

PART 2:

Each Cell/pager provider should have it's own CARRIER set up. ALL carriers can share dialers. What do you have for DISPLAY GROUP settings?

Ok now I'm using Page Gate v5.

I can use my carrier with 10 digits but when I configure my recipients with 10 digit it's nor working.
PG monitor message wrote: Invalid Pager number OR page Not accepted...
But when I use my phone and use the 10 digits number it's working...

What's wrong?

It could be a carrier issue or it could be a configuration issue. If you wouldn't mind, please email the pgdial1.log file (typically either in c:\pagegatedata\logs\ or c:\program files\pagegate) to support at notepage dot com so I can have a look at what's happening and where the response is coming from.

Please post the debug log for the connector - it sounds like the device id you are using is not a valid recipient in the carrier's system

After having a look at the log file, what's happening is that the Rogers TAP Terminal doesn't recognize the phone number you're trying to pass to it. Which is to say, your system is saying "Please message
<person's cel number>" and the Rogers Terminal is responding with "I don't know who that is"

So... the only way to really get around that is to give Rogers a call and ask them which TAP terminal you should be using so it will recognize the phone number(s) you're trying to message.

You could try some of the other TAP numbers we have for Rogers, though I don't know which one would be the 'right' number to use.

Ok thx I'm on the phone right now!

I will come back after that. :)

Ok so Rogers said that I'm using a TAP termianl in my aera code so I did not have to use again the area code for my pager.
Anyway I will be able to see if it's true tomorrow because it is thant than the 10 digit number rule take action!! :)

Thx for your help!

Hi!! :)

How can I configure 3 carriers to contact my sigle "connector/dialger"

For now My AT&T Carrier works fine but I cannot find hor to use Bell and Telus Carrier.
I've been tell that I shoul have one carrier for each provider but I can use the same Dialer.

So is the dialer = Connector?
Can I have more than one Connector running at the same time ?

Right... a Connector is a Dialer is a Connector. You can have up to sixteen Connectors running simultaneously, though you'd really need to have truly enormous requirement to have all sixteen connectors running.

If you go into the PageGate Admin and go to the Connectors - Connector 1 - Settings section, do you have anything set for the dedicated carrier? If so, set it to none. Also, be sure that the other connectors have no dedicated carrier as well.
