My computer recognizes snpp, wtcp, but not smtp. Is there a way i can make my computer accept it? also if i want to put the tap or tone, i need an external modem that has the dialtone??

It may not have anything to do with your computer, it may be that port 25 is blocked by your ISP. To see if there's anything on the local computer causing the problem, this is what you'll want to do:
1) In Windows, go to Start - Run.
2) In the run menu, type the following and click on OK: command
3) In the command prompt, type the following and hit enter: telnet notepage.com 25
After you hit enter, if it comes back with a 220 response, that means port 25 is open and that a program (antivirus/firewall) is preventing NotePager Pro from using it. If it says it couldn't establish a connection to the host over port 25, that means that either your ISP or local network admin has blocked the port and you must use an internal mail server for SMTP delivery.
As for TAP or TONE, you do need an analogue, dial-up modem in order to use them. |
