I'm currently demo-ing PG and in my setup, I'm using the get serial interface to sample ascii text. My question is this: Precisely how do I filter a message and then send that message to a specific recipient or group of when NO recipient information exists within the sampled ascii text? To put it another way, I'm getting all alarms (ascii text) input to the page gate program for processing. However, not everyone gets all the alarms. How (precisely) do I set up page gate to send certain alarms (pages) to certain people but not others? I've tried the lookup table option and it will not send out the page. I get "recipient record not found". It does work on static recipient though.

Hmm... if I can get a little more information, the setup should be easy enough to do.
Do you have a certain set of alarms that are intended to go to one group of people and then another set of alarms that need to go to another group of people?
If so, do each of the messages have a unique identifier in them?
For example, let's say you get this from the Serial:
GATE 2: The Gate has been left open
Is a message like that intended to go to the "Guards" group or the "Maintenance" group of people? Or to one specific person?

[4] 09:35 017 30 <09:35:53 10-03-108>
BLO EX2 Day/Night Tower Lights OFF
<1> 09:35 014 12 <09:35:48 10-03-108>
EMB EX2 Door Open EMB
The messages above are just two examples of how my messages are formatted. There are many, many more but this is the general layout. For example, the first message needs to be sent to one recipient or specific recipients within a group. While the second message would be sent out to all recipients.
Also, there may instances where I would not want the message sent to anyone.

Okay... is there anything actually within the message that determines who it's sent to? For example, do all BLO EXT2 messages go to the same group and do all EMB EX2 messages need to be sent to everyone?

When you tried the lookup table thing did you try to have the error message on the left side and the actual recipient or group on the right side?
such as:
"BLO EX2 Day/Night Tower Lights OFF" = "TowerTechs"
"EMB EX2 Door Open EMB" = "Everyone"
I would think if this works it would help address the message, but I don't know if the left side is echoed in the message or not...

The problem is I don't know how to format the message so that it can be filtered. How is the text formatted? Do I set up the message (left side) exactly as it's written, spaces and all other characters included? Or are single words within the message all that is required to set up the filter? The manual is vague concerning this issue. Secondly, where do I set up the filter (lookup table)? I currently have it set up under "Get Serial" and the lookup table is active for "Recipients". I have two "Data In" parameters set up and the "Data Out" is set to go to a "nopages" group I have set up so that no one gets the pages. When I check the log, there is an error message stating "rejected". Perhaps a phone conversation would be more productive?

I think you're right, it might be easier to do the actual configuration (now that I have the details) by phone. Do me a favor and email your contact information to support at notepage dot com and I'll give you a ring.
