I am the fire chief of a small volunteer fire department. All of our firemen have their personal phones with US Cellular. I purchased Notepager Pro so our County 911 service could send a group text message to dispatch our firemen. I can send it perfectly through a modem and landline with TAP from my home PC. 911 says they send everything out through the internet and we are not compatible. What do I need to have or do to be able to have them send our messages thru the internet. US Cellular doesn't handle SNPP or WCTP. and i assume I shouldn't use SMTP because of slowness and unreliability. Am I wrong looking at US Cellular's protocols, when I should be looking at the 911 Center's ISP instead? I'm really confused here. Can anyone let me know what I should try or are we just out of luck?
Thanks for any advice you can give!

You are correct in that USCellular only supports SMTP (email 10digit#@email.uscc.net )

Other than that - you may want to tether a GSM Modem to the PC and use it to send messages as SMS texts. Depending on the volume of messages, you should also look at upgrading to PageGate. We have installed PageGate in many public safety dispatch centers

Thanks, Aaron
Do you have any experience using SMTP for dispatching? Is it slow? Reliable?
I guess we are out of luck if it won't work. Is there any trick to setting it up with SMTP? We won't have to contact US Cellular (each fireman) to set things up, will we? They are not very knowledgible when you finally get through to customer Service.

As an afterthought, does anyone know of a software package or set-up with a company that can do what we require?
We're very open to suggestions right now!

Thanks again, BJ
